In Iran, people of Abdanan seize police station
NEWS CENTER – In the city of Abdanan, in Iran’s Ilam province, nearly the entire population took to the streets. Marching crowds seized the Abdanan Police Station and an army depot.
Tens of thousands of people who poured into the streets in Abdanan took control of the police station located in the city centre as well as an army depot. It was reported that the takeover was carried out peacefully and that police officers inside the station cooperated with the people.
After handing the station over to the public, the police withdrew from the area. The people continue their protest amid celebrations.
REGIME FORCES DRIVEN OUT OF MELEKSHAHI
In the city of Melekshahi, also in Ilam province, all regime forces were reportedly expelled from the city, and control passed to the local population. It was reported that electricity has been cut in large parts of the city and that there is heavy helicopter activity in the area.
