NEWS CENTER – Young people who have been at the forefront of the protests in Iran have begun recording videos in which they share their wills, anticipating the possibility of being killed. In the videos, they say: “We are not afraid of death; we are afraid of living with the mullahs.”
Protests that began in response to the economic crisis and quickly transformed into demands for freedom continue across Iran and Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan). The demonstrations, which started on 28 December 2025 at Tehran’s Grand Bazaar and rapidly spread nationwide, are continuing uninterrupted at at least 222 locations in 78 cities across 26 provinces.
While protesters in previous uprisings often covered their faces due to the risk of detention and subsequent death sentences, demonstrators are now taking to the streets with their faces uncovered and openly sharing videos expressing their defiance.
In Lorestan, one of the provinces where protests and online sharing have been particularly intense, young people recorded videos in which they announced their wills. Shared on social media, the videos show the youth preparing for demonstrations accompanied by the song “Gulum ey yar” by Hoseyn Saberi.
In the same videos, the young protesters voice their final words, saying, “We are not afraid of death; we are afraid of living with the mullahs,” “Die with a name, not with humiliation,” and “Do not fear dying with honor rather than living in disgrace.”
