At least 852 children lost their lives while working over 13 years

ISTANBUL – At least 852 children lost their lives while working over a 13-year period, according to a report by the Health and Safety Labour Watch (İSİG) Assembly.

The organisation published its “Child Labour Deaths Report” covering the years from 2013 to 2026.
 
The report states that at least 852 children died during this period. It highlights that the highest number of child labour deaths occurred in the city of Riha (Urfa, Turkey. Of those who died, 122 were girls and 730 were boys.
 
According to the report, 52% of the children died while working in agriculture, 13% in construction and road work, 8% in accommodation, 7% in metal work and 3% in the food sector. It also states that, by age group, 291 of the children were between 5 and 14 years old, while 561 were aged between 15 and 17.
