ANKARA - DEM Party will march to the Parliament under the slogan 'Take a Step for Peace.'

The Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, demanding legal and judicial steps within the framework of the Peace and Democratic Society Process, particularly the recognition of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s status, will hold simultaneous marches in cities across Turkey and Kurdistan on May 16 (tomorrow) under the slogan 'Gavek ji bo Aştiyê/Take a Step for Peace.'

Ankara is also one of the cities where the march will take place. The march is expected to be attended by provincial and district organizations as well as a large number of citizens. Participants will gather in front of the Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Street. Those taking part in the march will walk from there towards Parliament Park at 18:30.

Fatih Kanat, Co-Chair of the DEM Party Ankara Provincial Organization, who provided information about the march, stated that they would march to the Parliament where the legal framework needs to be established, referring to the process that has been ongoing for more than one and a half years.

"In order to ensure peace in a way that encompasses justice, truth, freedom, and democracy, the DEM Party is also trying to fulfill this with all its means," he said.
