DEM Party Imralı Delegation members Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar said the following regarding their meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday: “As the DEM Party Imralı Delegation, we held an important meeting with President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We exchanged views with Mr. President Erdoğan on the developments taking place in our region and their impact on Turkey and on the Peace and Democratic Society Process.

During the meeting, the shared will to continue the process with determination was once again reaffirmed. It was expressed that in order to take concrete and confidence-building steps regarding the ongoing process, there is a need for the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), relevant ministries, and public institutions to intensify their work. In this framework, it was emphasized that the report of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission should be prepared with an inclusive approach and provide a solid foundation in terms of democratization and freedoms. It was stated that it is important for a legal framework, one that will encompass all segments of society and serve as the basis for Turkey’s democratic future, to be enacted without delay and with the broadest consensus.

We reiterate our belief that this meeting, held at a time of significant developments in global and regional politics, will contribute to the peaceful coexistence of the peoples of Turkey and the region, and we thank Mr. President for receiving us.”
