Turkey’s National Security Council (MGK) Is set to convene under the chairmanship of President Tayip Erdoğan at 3.30 pm, following the submission to parliament of the draft law prepared as part of the Peace and Democratic Society Process.

 

As part of the process, the “Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration” was submitted to the Speaker’s Office of Parliament. The bill is scheduled to be taken up by the Justice Committee tomorrow. If approved by the committee, it will then proceed to the General Assembly. The 12-article legislative package is expected to enter into force only after the National Security Council (MGK) formally determines that the disarmament process has been completed. 

 

MGK is expected to review the submission of the bill to parliament and discuss the next steps in the process at today’s meeting. International and regional developments are also expected to feature on the agenda.

 

The post-meeting statement is expected to address the process.
