NEWS CENTER - Six women's civil society organisations in Rojhilat issued a joint statement declaring that the protests are a continuation of the 'Jin jiyan azadî' uprising and emphasising that the future they demand is based on democracy, gender equality and genuine participation by the people.
Six women's civil society organisations operating in the cities of Sinê, Seqiz and Meriwan in Rojhilat (West Kurdistan, Iran) issued a joint statement. The statement noted that the ongoing protests in Iran are a continuation of the "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" uprising, emphasising that the people have taken to the streets to defend their social life, economic rights and right to life.
The statement noted that the current situation in Iran is a result of the Iranian government's systematic policies of violence aimed at preserving its power, adding that the government views peaceful protests as a threat and responds to them with bullets and arrests.
The statement recorded that the protesters' demands are for freedom, equality and human dignity, and stated that the protesters' goal is to eliminate male-dominated, oppressive power.
The statement pointed out that all Kurdish women must stand in unconditional solidarity with the protesters, emphasising the necessity of unity and organised struggle, and underlining that the future demanded is based on democracy, gender equality and genuine participation of the people.
