Sıddık Güler referred to Forensic Medicine Institute 2025-06-25 13:34:36 ANKARA – Sıddık Güler, 85, seriously ill prisoner held in İskenderun T-Type Closed Prison, was referred to Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) one month after the prosecutor’s decision.  Iskenderun Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office decided on the referral following request of Güler’s lawyer. Güler suffers from Alzheimer, heart disease, hypertension, and rheumatism, and relies on a wheelchair for mobility.   The prosecutor’s office sent a written notice to the prison on May 21 to ensure Güler’s transfer to ATK, requesting that he be taken there within three days without any obstacles. The prison administration notified the gendarmerie accordingly to carry out the transfer. However, despite this, the gendarmerie did not proceed with the transfer.   REFERRED TO ATK ON JUNE 20   Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Şirnex (Şırnak) MP Newroz Uysal Aslan, who has been following Güler’s case, contacted the prison and ATK. The ATK Secretariat confirmed that Güler was brought to the institute on June 20. He was examined at ATK, but no report has yet been prepared regarding his condition.   Güler remains imprisoned in the same facility.
