İSTANBUL - Women's organizations emphasized that the “Emergency Action Plan” is a dire need and said: "A grand rally is essential. We need to organize the anger of the women. A grand women's strike might be a start."

Components of the Women's Shelters and Solidarity Centers Congress announced the "Emergency Action Plan" campaign, signed by 91 women's organizations in May 2020, to combat violence against women, and listed the urgent needs of women.

With the withdrawal from the İstanbul Convention which made a clear definition to prevent the violence and is one of the greatest achievements of women, women's organizations brought the 'Emergency Action Plan' back into the agenda.

GOVERNMENT'S WOMEN POLICY

Stating that the government's misogynist policies continue to multiply, Socialist Re-foundation Party (SYKP) Co-Chair Canan Yüce said: "We know the government from its misogynistic policies like releasing the sex offenders with the new law on execution, introducing laws that pave the way for child marriages, their claims about İstanbul COnvention damaging the 'family structure'. We know that their agenda is to create a 'reasonable woman'. Yüce  drew attention to the common struggle by saying, "We continue to protect what we are entitled to with actions and activities, and emphasize that the government should take responsibility for the implementation of laws that protect women together."

GRAND WOMEN'S STRIKE

Stating that 'life needs to be stopped and women must mobilize' in the face of the withdrawal from the İstanbul Convention, Socialist Women's Assemblies (SKM) Spokesperson Hatice Deniz Aktaş said: "We have to stop life while they are stealing our rights. We have the strength to do so. We just need to get together. As the organizers of the United Women's Struggle we have to meet with the women in Turkey and Kurdistan and organize strikes. A grand women's rally is a must. We have the power to defeat fascism. Termination of the contract is a part of the attack on women, and it is necessary to build an integrated line of struggle against it. It is necessary to march from all over Turkey and plan this in coordination with each other. The anger of the women must be organized. A grand women's strike might the beginning."

WOMEN WILL STOP FASCISM

Nupelda Çelik, Coordination Member of the Center for the Liberation of Women, pointed out that women should put their own emergency action plans into effect and said, “We were aware that the government could go further than the contracts and laws at any moment. One of the biggest obstacles to the AKP-MHP-Ergenekon fascist male alliance is the women's liberation movement that destroys its legitimacy. They have no chance of defeating our struggle, because we are in every home where there is violence. We will continue to fight against male-state violence with our movement, which is becoming more widespread."
