MÊRDÎN - Citizens who are holding a vigil at the Qamishlo-Nisêbîn border against the attacks on North and East Syria emphasised the need to protect Rojava and says, "The way to freedom passes through Rojava".

The vigil at the Qamishlo border in Nisêbîn (Nusaybin) district of Mêrdîn (Mardin) against the attacks of Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SNA) against North and East Syria continues on its 7th day. The vigil, which is supported by mass visits from different cities of Kurdistan every day, shows solidarity to Rojava with resistance songs and halay.

'WE ARE HERE AS LONG AS THE WAR CONTINUES'

Nuriye Tarlak participated in the vigil for 5 days against the attacks and said: "Rojava is Nisêbîn, Nisêbîn is Rojava. We will be here as long as the war continues in Rojava. We watch on TV how they slaugter children and patients in hospitals. They slaughter and rape children and women. Everyone covets Kurdish lands and wants to tear them apart. As Peace Mothers, we want peace and we hold the hang of peace. The funerals of our children are coming, we say peace. They put our children in prisons, we say peace. Wherever it is, we will go there and say peace."

Hacer Avşin, one of the participants of the vigil, said that the bloodshed should stop as soon as possible. Hacer Avşin said: We do not want anyone to be killed. We want peace. We do not want this blood to be spilt anymore. We want the prisoners in prisons to be liberated. Our hearts are beating for the people of Rojava and Syria. We came here for them. We want the war to stop as soon as possible."

AT THE BORDER WITH HER WALKING STICK

Feriha Akbulut, whose walking ability has weakened due to old age and who can walk with the help of a walking stick, took her place at the vigil despite her advancing age and difficulty in walking and said: "I will fight as much as I can until peace comes. As mothers, we want to say that we are against the war. As a grieving mother and on behalf of the mothers here, we should shout for other mothers to join hands with us and stop the war. Because mothers want peace, not war. We are here today because our conscience is not clear, we are struggling. To live is to resist."

'SOLUTION IS POSSIBLE WITH THE OPENING OF IMRALI GATES'

"There has been an oppressed people for years. This people gave martyrs, their villages were evacuated and burnt, they were imprisoned. We see today as a struggle for existence. We will fight for the people of Rojava until our last drop. If there is no solution in Rojava, there will be no solution here. Freedom is possible with the opening of the İmralı gates. All our people, young, old and children alike, should support this action," Abdurrahman Erkan said.

'ISSUE MUST BE SOLVED THROUGH NEGOTIATION'

Inviting everyone who calls themselves 'Kurdish' to speak out agianst these attacks, Hüseyin Gök said: "Kurds must come together for peace and solidarity not only here but all over the world. International states need to take a hand in this problem. The new government established in Damascus also needs to recognise its enemies who are friendly. If it is not careful, it will turn into a quagmire again. The new government should resort to peaceful means and find solutions to its problems with the Kurds on the basis of negotiation and dialogue. They will also be harmed in the event of a lack of solution with the Kurds."

Muhammet Gündüz, one of the citizens who stated that he participated in the vigil at the border in solidarity with the people of Rojava, said: "Everyone who calls themselves a patriot should come here. It is near, we will definitely succeed. We must stand against these attacks and fight against them in the same way as we fought in the previous attacks. This is a matter of existence and non-existence."

'THIS ISSUE CAN BE SOLVED WITH INTERLOCUTORS'

Abdulvahap Akay pointed out that the solution to the war crisis in Rojava also passes through İmralı. "Otherwise, everyone will be harmed. For this reason, Mr Abdullah Öcalan must be in contact and there should be talks on Rojava. Only in this way will a solution be found. This problem can be solved with politics and interlocutors," he said.

Halime Kaya, who has been supporting the vigil at the border since the first day, said: "We came here in solidarity with Rojava. The peoples in Rojava are our relatives. The path to freedom passes through Rojava. Kurds should be united and support Rojava together. Rojava is our soul."
